Dhayah Fort in Al Rams is the only remaining hilltop fort in the UAE. It is built on a foundation that dates back to the 16th century, but the fort, built as a short term defensive watch tower, was constructed in the early 19th century. It is well worth the rather long climb up the stairway to the top of the hill because not only do you get to see the well preserved Fort up close but you also have a magnificent view of the surrounding Haja Mountains and the coast.
