RAK leaders discuss development plans for the emirate
Ras Al Khaimah's leading government representatives recently convened to discuss plans for the development of the emirate and to further drive the vision of HH Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK). Organised by the emirate’s Tourism Development Authority (TDA) at Waldorf Astoria, Ras Al Khaimah, the meeting aimed to align resources and individual strategies, promote the emirate and reinforce the growth momentum plans for the destination. This follows RAK’s recent announcement of its aggressive growth strategy, targeting 20 new hotel properties that are expected to add 10,000 room keys to the emirate by 2022. Haitham Mattar, CEO, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (TDA), said: “This is the beginning of the journey to develop the vision of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi. Cooperation is vital to Ras Al Khaimah’s success as a business and destination.” Government representatives discussed the future conservation and management of archaeological sites, investment strategy, and infrastructural development within the short term. “We all strive to fulfil the same vision through an informed and united growth and development strategy. Last year Ras Al Khaimah saw 730,000 visitors in the emirate and our target is to attract 1 million by the end of 2018, setting ambitious targets to position Ras Al Khaimah as an authentic destination for both business and leisure travellers,” Mattar said. The meeting was attended by Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority as well as representatives from Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority, Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, Ras Al Khaimah Police Government Head Quarters, The Department of Public Works and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs. –TradeArabia news Service.
